During the summer of 2022, I experimented with photographing a banana against a dark background. The rich yellow of the banana stood out in striking contrast, which inspired me to document its transformation over time.
Over the next few weeks, I captured daily images to observe and record how the banana aged. My goal was to continue for as long as possible, but as the fruit ripened, it became increasingly fragile. To avoid attracting fruit flies, I decided to conclude the project after 21 days.
I then compiled a photograph from each day into a montage, creating a visual timeline that showcases the banana’s gradual loss of its bright yellow hue with each passing day.
